2021 OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS

As recently decided by the FCA Executive Board, the Fencing Federation of Uzbekistan was awarded the rights to host the Olympic Qualifiers for Asia and Oceania. The two day competition on April 25 and 26 will be held in Tashkent which is the capital city of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The decision to entertain an alternate host for the Qualifiers was brought about by the recent information coming from the Fencing Federation of Korea that their government is requiring a two week quarantine for all foreign travellers entering into Korea. This condition is not acceptable to the FIE as it will be very difficult and costly for all participating athletes and officials.

The Olympic Qualifiers will include fencers from the fencing federations in Asia and Oceania. Per FIE rules, only federations which do not have any athlete through the team qualification or through the individual AOR by zone, in the weapon concerned, can participate in the zone qualifying events, with a maximum of one (1) athlete per federation per weapon.

In each weapon, the highest ranked fencer in the zone qualifying event will qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
